Morphology Aminobacter
CELLULAR
Staining Gram negative
Morphology rod shpaed with rounded ends (0.5-0.9 x 1.0-3.0 um)
Motility subpolar flagella
Specialized structures granules of poly- beta-phydroxybutyric acid accumulate in the cells
Division budding
COLONIAL
Solid surface colonies are white to light yellos
Liquid abundant growth in nutrient broth and PYG broth, no water soluble fluorescent pigments are produced

Growth Parameters Aminobacter
PHYSIOLOGICAL
Tropism chemoorganotroph
Oxygen aerobe oxidative metabolism
pH range pH 6.0-8.0
Temperature good growth 30-37 oC no growth at 42 oC
Requirements
Products methyl red negative, Vogues-Proskauer negative, indole negative, No H2S formed, gleatin and starch not hydrolysed. Ammonia is produced. Acids produced from sugars by oxidative metabolism. Monomethylamine, trimetylamine and trimethyamine-N-oxide and sugars are utilized but methanol, methane, and hydrogen are not used
Enzymes oxidase positive, catalase positive, urease negative.
Unique features no growth in the presence of 3% NaCl.
