Centre for Social Justice
Created at University of Windsor
The new Centre for Social Justice at the University of
Windsor is a reality.
Political Science Professor Walter (Jake) Soderlund is
Acting Director for a one-year term, and is taking on the
job with vigour and a clearly laid out set of tasks.
Among topics for social justice research are the relationship
between the environment and health and the effects of
global changes.
The centre will also be launching a distinguished speaker
series, likely with a speaker on an issue from each of those
four general areas: international, national, provincial and
local.

Human Rights Commissioner Appointment
President Ross Paul has confirmed the engagement of Ms.
Cheryl Henshaw to continue as Human Rights Commissioner
for a three-year term effective July 1. 2002
The new contract provides for full-time service during the
busier period from September 1 to April 30 inclusively each
year and two-days a week during the quieter period of May 1
to August 31.

Dean of Applied Health Sciences at Brock
The University of Windsor's Dean of Students and Registrar
is leaving Windsor to become Dean of the Faculty of Applied
Health Sciences at Brock University. John is a Brock grad
(Honours Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences) from
Niagara Falls.
His final day on the job at the University of Windsor will be
Friday, October 11. He reports for his new job at Brock on
Tuesday, October 15.
Dr. Corlett has been a member of the Faculty of Human
Kinetics at Windsor for 17 years.
Butler Leaving Windsor,
Accepts V- P Position at Laurier
Windsor Human Resources Director Jim Butler has accepted
an offer to be the Vice-President, Administration and
Finance, at Wilfrid Laurier University in Kitchener-Waterloo.
"We are sad to see him go, but we are very happy for Jim that
he is being given this opportunity," says Eric Harbottle,
Windsor's V-P Finance and Administration. "Jim is a great friend
and colleague who is admired and appreciated right across the
whole campus. For many reasons, we are going to miss him.
Jim has made a tremendous contribution to this university in the
14 years that he has been with us."

Dr. Jim Weese reappointed
Dean of Human Kinetics
Dr. Jim Weese has been reappointed for a second five-year
term as Dean of the Faculty of Human Kinetics effective July 1,2002.
Dr. Weese has been involved with the faculty since 1976 as an
undergraduate and graduate student, a varsity athlete, a
professor, and most recently, as the dean.
Dr. Weese is a professor of sport management whose research
interest is in the area of executive leadership.
First Odette Research Chair appointed
Dr. Roger Hussey, Dean, Odette School of Business, is pleased
to announce the appointment of Dr. Craig Fleisher as the first
Odette Research Chair in Business at the University of Windsor.
"We are also grateful to Louis and Ed Odette whose generosity
enabled the Odette School of Business to create this new
position," said Dean Hussey.
Dr. Fleisher has an impressive background as a scholar and an
educator.He received his PhD in Business from the Katz
Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, and
his MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management,
Vanderbilt University, Tennessee. An internationally focused
management scholar, Dr. Fleisher has held senior positions such
as dean, MBA director and professor at the University of New
Brunswick, Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Calgary and
University of Sydney, Australia.
He was also President of the Canadian Council for Public
Affairs Advancement.
