Forum Provides Opportunities To Pursue Social Justice

The Student’s Social Justice Forum offered students a chance to learn about social justice initiatives they may pursue. It included a discussion by Windsor law students of their social justice-related summer positions in Windsor, Montreal, Nepal, and Ghana—and offered practical tips for other students on how to arrange such placements.

Participants were able to network directly with a range of organizations that offer social justice internships, work placements, or volunteer opportunities.

Law students Christina Beninger and Karen Choy organized the event, with the financial support of the Canadian International Development Agency, through the Students for Development Program.

Beninger described the interest generated by the event as “unsurprising, given the access-to-justice focus of the law school and the demand for social justice-focused internship and work opportunities.”

She said that there is limited information available for the pursuit of such positions.

“The forum offers an opportunity for students to share their practical knowledge in this area,” she said.
