Med School Lecture Series Proved Popular

An overwhelming public response to a free lecture program offered by the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Windsor Program, was a sign of great things to come, said Dr. Tom Scott, the School’s Associate Dean of Medicine.

The Mini Medical School program, a five-week series of lectures had packed houses, with a waiting list of more than 210. Physicians who practise in the community and currently teach third-year clinical clerks gave the lectures.

“We created the program to reach out to people in the community and give them a sense of what a first-year medical student may experience,” Scott said. “This is a really clear indication of community interest in the medical school project and how committed people are to seeing medical students educated in Windsor. We are thrilled and overwhelmed by the response.”

Topics included schizophrenia, colo-rectal cancer screening, cystic fibrosis, and advances in minimally invasive gynecology.
