Dr. AlanWildemanhas announced that hewill step
downasUniversityof Windsor president andvice
chancellor, effective June2018. Hewas appointed to
thepositionon July1, 2008.
The announcement came at the annual Stateof the
University address on January27, atwhichDr.Wildeman
saidhehadmadehis decisiononly after long reflection.
“I am immenselyproudof what theuniversityhas
accomplished since I’vebeenhere. But it is all of youwho
havedone it and thebiggest task and thebiggest joy for
me is to applaudyou,” he told an audience that included
faculty, staff, students, boardmembers, retirees, and
community leaders.
“It’s the right time for renewal tooccur. The rebuilding
of the campus, the integration into thedowntown, the
investment innew faculty, theneed tomake the rest of
Ontariomore awareof us, and,most importantly, theneed
toneverwaver fromour storyof letting students know
that they comefirst…thesewere the things I saw as being
importantwhen I began.”
Dr.Wildeman informed theUniversityof Windsor
Boardof Governors of his decisionprior tohis address.
Theboardwill immediatelybegin theprocess toundertake
a search for his replacement.
