Judi WilsonMentorship earns provincial award for campus nurse

Judi Wilson, health promotion nurse in Student Health Services was awarded the 2008 Preceptor Recognition Award from the Council of Ontario University Programs in Nursing.

She has mentored students since joining the profession – she has a 1978 diploma in public health nursing and 1990 BScN from the University of Windsor.

Acting as a preceptor to student nurses keeps her challenged and current on nursing issues—and keeps her young, she said.

Nursing professor Lucia Yiu nominated Wilson for the award, and worked closely with her as coordinator of the School of Nursing's fourth-year community clinical program.

Wilson shared credit with her colleagues on the staff of Student Health Services.
She received her award at a reception in Toronto, held in conjunction with the Nursing Academic Leadership Conference of the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing.
