Campus Adopt-a-Family participation reaches new high

UWindsor staff, faculty and students aided a record 47 needy families with more than $25,000 in gifts, easily topping the past record of $18,000 for 35 families through the 2008 Adopt-a-Family program of the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society.

Dozens of volunteers spent several weeks raising funds for their “families.” In addition to toys, sponsors collect new clothing, housewares and food to assist families beyond Christmas, says Mary Anne Beaudoin of the public affairs office, the program’s on-campus coordinator.

The Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society developed the Adopt-A-Family program to ensure happy holidays for the children in the area. It's an annual holiday tradition at the University of Windsor dating back more than 15 years.
