Admission Requirements

•
Our one-year, consecutive program integrates on-campus
classeswith approximately 60 days of classroomobservation and
teaching
•
Youwill have your placements in school settings under the
direction of experienced teachers in one of three divisions:
primary-junior (JK-Grade 6), junior-intermediate (Grade 4-10)
and intermediate-senior (Grade 7-12)
Primary-junior division
•
No teachable subjects to choose. However, we recommend that
applicants have studied awide range of subject areas, such as
English, mathematics, Canadian geography/history, fine arts,
child development and psychology, physical education and
science
Junior-intermediate division
•
Candidates choose one teachable subject. Youmust have at least
six semester undergraduate courses (18 semester hours) in one
teaching subject, with the exception of French andMusic, which
require additional courses
Intermediate-senior division
•
Candidates choose two teaching subjects. Youmust have at least
10 semester undergraduate courses (30 semester hours) in the
first teachable subject and six semester undergraduate courses
(18 semester hours) in the second teachable subject, with the
exception of French andMusic, which require additional courses.
At least two of these coursesmust be at the second-year level or
above
Teachable subject areas: DramaticArt, English, French-Second
Language, Geography, HealthandPhysical Education, History,
Mathematics,Music (Instrumental andVocal), ReligiousEducation,
Science (General) andVisual Arts. Inaddition, Social Sciences-
General, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Scienceand
BusinessStudies (General) areoffered to intermediate-senior
candidates only.

The Concurrent BA/BEd/ECE programprovides the opportunity
towork concurrently on two degrees and a diploma leading to
qualifications to teach fromthe early childhood years to Grade 6
•
Graduates receive aBachelor of Arts and aBachelor of Education
(primary-junior) fromtheUniversity of Windsor, and aDiploma in
Early Childhood Education fromSt. Clair College
•
Considering the Ontario government’s implementation of full-
day learning for four-and five-year olds, our programuniquely
prepares graduates for this field
Concurrent Biological Sciences andEducation (5 years)

Acquire the skills and knowledge in biological sciences and one other
teachable subject area
•
Fulfils the requirements for certification by the Ontario College of Teachers
to teach biology and a second teachable at the intermediate and senior
levels (Grades 7 to 12)
•
Studentswill complete courses in biology while concurrently studying
education and participating in practice teaching experiences
Concurrent Chemistry andEducation (5 years)

Acquire skills and knowledge in chemistry and one other teachable subject
area. Fulfills the requirements for certification by the Ontario College of
Teachers to teach chemistry and a second teachable at the intermediate and
senior levels (Grades 7 to 12)

Complete courses in chemistry while concurrently studying education and
participating in practice teaching experiences
Concurrent Computer ScienceandEducation (5 years)

Offered jointly over five years by French Studies and the Faculty of Education.
Prepares students to teach at the junior and intermediate levels (Grades 4 to
10), with a particular emphasis on teaching French as a second language

Graduateswill acquire thenecessary skills andknowledge for teaching
Frenchas a second language in theEnglish language school system(Public
or Separate) at the junior and intermediate level and fulfill the requirements
for certificationby theOntarioCollegeof Teachers

This combined programoffers students the opportunity to begin practice
teaching andworking towards teaching certification early in their academic
careers

Fulfils the requirements for certification by the Ontario College of Teachers
to teachmath and a second teachable at the intermediate and senior levels
(Grades 7 to 12)
• Complete courses inmathematicswhile concurrently studying education
and participating in practice teaching experiences
No direct admission. All applicants require aminimum three-year
Bachelor’s degree froma recognized university with a B- (70%) overall
average. Applicants are also required to complete an Applicant Profile.
Spots are limited and will depend on the number of applicants each year.
