The Multimedia elements contained on this site are an integral part of the learning experience. However, the world wide web is by nature always changing in terms of technology and this creates compatibility issues. However, free software is readily available for the user to download. Please consult the following sourcesif needed.

The three lay articles are encoded in the .pdf (portable document format) for ease of portability of the included graphics. The free adobe acrobat reader is available here
Windows Media Player can be used to play the sound clip on the Applications page and to view the short clip of the photoelectric effect. It is available for download here.
Flash player is required to view the simple photoelectric applet on the "historical framework" page. If it is not already bundled with your browser you can download it here.
Java is required for all other applets on the site as well as most other science sites with such applets. You can get it here.
Quicktime player is an alternative to Windows Media Player for both the video and audio clip. You can download it here.
