received the highest honour inCanadian
academiawhenhewas named aFellowof theRoyal
Societyof Canada this past November.
Dr. Conklin’s academic achievements include original,
internationally recognized contributions to jurisprudence,
Canadian constitutional and international law, legal
philosophy and legal education.

Members of theCollege of NewScholars, Artists and
Scientists. This award recognizes an emerging generation
of academics for achievement and intellectual leadership.

undercurrents challenging
assumptions aboutmusic,
musicalmeaning and the role
and status of themodernist
art composer.
Dr. Porter is a leader in
characterizingnovel aspects
of cell growth control andhas
discoveredunique
mechanisms linkingdevelopment,maintenance
regeneration andhumandisease. She is a strong advocate
of relating research to the public andhas initiated a unique
movement tobuild transnational researchopportunities
betweenSouthwesternOntario andMichigan.
The society isCanada’s national academy and
exists topromoteCanadian research and scholarly
accomplishment, to recognize academic and artistic
excellence and to advise governments, non-governmental
organizations andCanadians onmatters of public
interest. Fellows are electedby their peers in recognition
of outstanding scholarly, scientific and artistic
accomplishments and are considered tobe at the pinnacle
of achievement in their discipline.
