have to meet the usual Canadian and American immigration requirements

with visa applications will be provided for admitted students at
no additional cost.
Admission to the Bar in the
United States and Canada:
United States:
The University of Detroit
Mercy School of Law is an American Bar Association accredited law
school and therefore, the J.D. is recognized by all state bar associations.
Residency related requirements for non-citizens vary from
state to state as do other requirements that must be met before
a person can sit for the bar and practice law. Students must inform
themselves concerning, and satisfy the requirements of, the U.S.
jursidictions where they may seek admission to the bar:
Bar
Examination Information.
If you plan to
practice in Michigan, please check with the State
Bar of Michigan about their Bar examination, licensing, residency
and any other requirements. Make sure you understand how all of
Michigan's rules (including, but not limited to, M.C.L. 600.934
which requries, among other items, that an applicant be a resident
of one of the states, territories or the District of Columbia) apply
to your particular situation.
Canada:
The University of Windsor,
Faculty of Law is a Federation of Law Societies of Canada recognized
law faculty. The LL.B. degree does not in itself entitle someone
to practice law. Applicants who propose to enter the practice
of law in any common law province or territory of Canada must consult
directly with the Law Society of such province to determine its
requirements for admission: Resources
and Other Links. Some provinces require permanent residency
of non-citizens as a condition for Bar admission. Every provincial
law society requires some period of apprenticeship (articles) within
the province as a condition of being admitted to practice. Some
provinces may require that, in addition to the LL.B., a student
have an undergraduate degree completed before being admitted to
the period of articles; other provinces may require that, in addition
to the LL.B degree, a student have successfully completed a minimum
of 2 years university work after senior matriculation or its equivalent.
