Research in our lab focuses primarily on the mechanisms, function, and evolutionof visual signals in animals. Currently, the main projects in the lab involve studying the function and evolution of vocal and visual signals in Savannah sparrows, the mechanisms and function of rapid colour change in Neotropical yellow toads, signal divergence and evolution in wood warblers, the mechanisms and evolution of iridescent displays in hummingbirds, and the interaction between fruit colour preferences and grape predation in local vineyards.
