Analyzes traditional mass media and newmedia formations;
explores cultural, social, political and economic implications of
dynamic changes in the contemporary media environment

The Communication, Media and Film program offers you
opportunities in practicum or internship courses to obtain on-
the-job skills in your area of specialization. We place people in
Windsor, Detroit and Toronto.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours)
This combined honours degree in Communication, Media and Film
and Digital Journalism offers you an academic foundation along
with the tools of the modern journalist’s trade
Integrates academic study with professional training
From first year, you will learn skills of researching, reporting,
interviewing, writing, photography, editing, producing features and
other projects
Includes both Communication, Media and Film courses and Digital
Journalism courses
Communication, Media and Film courses including studies in new
and digital media theory and production, communication theory
and research methods, media literacy, and popular culture
Digital Journalism courses study the theory and ethics of
journalism in a rapidly changing technological landscape
Industry professionals are both instructors and guests in the
program, and opportunities for professional internships and part-
time employment are a key element.

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours)
Internationally recognized professional actor training program
Attracts students from across Canada, the US and Europe
Courses include: acting technique, scene study, Shakespearean
performance, voice, improvisation, movement, theatre history and
other electives in Dramatic Art
Faculty members include professional actors and directors
Special workshops, senior core courses and University Players
performances directed by guest artists. More than 10,000 patrons
attend University Players’ productions each year

Prepares students for careers in community, institutional and
educational settings
Provides training in creative play, storytelling, lesson planning,
theatre for young audiences, theatre for social action and

Teaches the application of drama and theatre as it relates to the
elementary/secondary curriculum
Includes teaching placements in both elementary and secondary
schools
Includes community-based projects driven by social issues
First-year courses include creative drama, nature of theatre,
