Dr.Samnani joined theOdetteSchool of
Business in2013.Prior to joiningOdette, he
wasanAssistantProfessor inHumanResource
ManagementandOrganizationalBehaviourat
RyersonUniversity. Inaddition tohisacademic
roles,Dr.Samnani hasheldroles inhuman
resourcemanagement, recruitment consulting,
andadvisingonbusinessperformance.Dr.
Samnani hasperformedconsultingservices
toawidevarietyof small,mid-sized, and large
organizations inboth thepublicandprivate
sectors. Thisconsultingworkhas focused
onaddressinghumanresourceproblems,
developinghumanresourceplans, andadvising
onhumanresourcestrategy.
Dr.Samnani’sresearch interestsrevolvearound
threemainareas:workplacedeviance, strategic
humanresourcemanagement, andworkplace
diversity. Inparticular,Dr.Samnani haspublished
numerousarticles in leadingmanagementand
psychology-based journalsonworkplacebullying
andworkplacevictimization.Hisresearchon
bullyingandvictimization in theworkplacedraws
onsocial andcognitivepsychologyand focuses
on theperceptionsandattributionsabout the
bullyingby targetedemployees.
Dr.Samnani isrecognized forresearch thatdraws
on theory insocial andcognitivepsychology
tounderstand threekeyareasandhow they
intersect: victimization in theworkplace, human
resourcemanagement (HRM)practices, and
workplacediversity.Hispublishedresearchhas
focusedonunderstandingvictimization in the
workplaceandvictims’ interpretationsof such
behaviour, howHRMpracticesmay influence
victimizationand these interpretations, andhow
victimizationandvictims’ interpretationsmay
differacrossculturesandgender.Hisresearch
hasalsoexploredhowHRMpracticescan
be“strategic”and the importanceoffitamong
thesepractices.Finally, someofDrSamnani’s
research focusesonacculturationprocesses
amongnewcomersand the implications for
theirpsychologicalwell-being.Hisresearch
hasbeenpublished inscholarlyoutlets in the
fieldsoforganizationalpsychology, human
resourcemanagement, leadership, andbusiness
ethics, and include
TheLeadershipQuarterly,
OrganizationalPsychologyReview
, and
Human
ResourceManagement
, amongothers.

TheUniversityofWindsorOutstanding
ScholarsProgram (www1.uwindsor.ca/
outstandingscholars) isauniquescholarship
program thatallowshighperformingstudents
toworkwith facultyonresearchprojects
throughout theirundergraduatedegree. In the
first year, studentsreceiveascholarshipandare
mentoredby theProgramcoordinator.Students
whoachievean80%orbettergradeaverage
overaminimumofeight courses in theirfirst
year (andmaintain this level ofperformanceover
subsequent years) are theneligible toreceive
aresearchassistantshipandwilldevelop their
researchskillsbyworkingcloselywith facultyon
acontinuingresearchprogram.
In2013 theOutstandingScholarsprogramwas
extended to theOdetteSchool ofBusinessand
thefirstoutstandingscholarswerewelcomed
to theSchool. Thesescholarswill enter the
researchphaseof theOutstandingScholars
program inSeptember2014. This isanexciting
opportunity toengageOdettestudents in the
researchprogramsof facultyacrossall ofour
areasofexpertise.
