Morphology Streptoalloteichus
CELLULAR
Staining Gram-positive
Morphology Slender, well-branched hyphae. The aerial mycelium bears chains of 5-50 spores, 0.5-1.2 um in diameter. The spore chain and spore morphology is indistinguishable from that of the genus Streptomyces. Fragmentation of the substrate mycelium is absent. The vegetative hyphae bear oval or spherical sporangium-like vessels, which envelope one spore or a single row of two to four spores
Motility The spores are motile with a single polar flagellum

Unique features ... Cell walls contain mesodiaminopimelic acid (meso-DAP). Whole-cell hydrolysates contain galactose, mannose, and rhamnose but no madurose. Phospholipids include phosphatidylethanolamine but not phosphatidylglucosamine or phosphatidylchline. Major menaquinones MK-9(H6) and MK- 10(H6).
