KENNEDYNAMED TO CIS ACADEMIC TOP 8
TheWindsor Lancers are pleased to announce
that Lancer quarterbackAustinKennedy has
beennamed to theCISAcademicTopEight as a
representative fromOntarioUniversityAthletics.
TheWindsor native is the sixth Lancer over the
past 10 years to achieve this tremendous honour.
The elite groupwas celebrated inOttawa in
November, when theRight HonourableDavid Johnston,
Governor General of Canada, presented the third
annual Governor General’s AcademicAll-Canadian
Commendation to the eight recipients during a ceremony
at RideauHall, his official residence.
Kennedywrapped up his remarkable career with the
Lancers football program in the fall of 2014. Over five
seasons, hewas a three-timeOUA conference all-star,
was twice voted teamMVP, tied theOUA career record
with 79 touchdown passes, became only the fourth
quarterback inCIS history to reach themagical 10,000-
yard plateau (10,004), and graduated as the all-time
school leader inmost passing categories.
In his final campaign last fall, the 5-foot-10,
205-pound pivot averaged 282 yards through the air per
gamewith a 15-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Kennedywas equally as impressive—if notmore so—
in the classroom. He graduatedwith distinction from the
Odette School of Business as a five-timeCISAcademic
All-Canadian, member of theDean’s List and recipient
of a Blue&Gold Scholarship. He also earned
a spot on the President’sHonour Roll on two occasions
andwas a three-time recipient of the prestigiousGino
Fracas Scholarship.
Kennedywas involved in theWindsor football
community throughout his five yearswith the Lancers
as a volunteer coachwith numerous programs and
camps. His involvement went beyond his sport. He also
volunteered as a business consultant with theTechTown
Detroit HealthHackathon, was a guest speaker for the
OdetteHigh School Leadership Initiative, aVIP host for
theCanadian Interuniversity Sport women’s basketball
championship, and a basketball camp supervisor, to name
a few.
“Austin is a perfect example of what a student-athlete
should strive to be,” said Lancer football head coach Joe
D’Amore. “Hewas not only a record-breaking star on the
football field, but he held the highest GPA on our team
for four years and showed an incrediblework ethic in
everything he did.”
