Dr. Baumann is associate vice-president for global
health and scientific director of theNursingHealth
ServicesResearchUnit atMcMasterUniversity’s School
of Nursing. She serves theWorldHealthOrganization
in two capacities: as director of itsCollaboratingCentre
inPrimaryHealthCare andNursingEducation, and the
co-ordinator of PanAmericanCollaboratingCentres.
She iswidelypublished in a varietyof academic books
and journals andwas also co-director of theCanadian
International Development Agency in the area of
Development of Women’sHealthProfessionals inPakistan.

to inhibit cancer growth inanimals.Hispioneeringwork
relating tohigh-temperaturepolymers for spacecraft earned
himfivecitations fromNASA.He isalso theco-inventorof
antimicrobials that areveryeffectiveagainst highly resistant
microbes—includingSARS.
