ALUMNI NEWS
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
UNIVERSITY OF WINDSOR ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
I have enjoyed an excitingfirst year as president of the
Universityof Windsor Alumni Association. One of the best
things about it has beenmeeting alumni around the country
and talking about our sharedpride inour almamater.
Manyof the alumni I havemet tellme heartwarming
stories from their time on campus. Every graduate has a few
memories to share—usually involving a favourite professor,
classmates, and fun stories filledwith images cemented in their
minds fromUWindsor. It is gratifying to knowour university
formed the foundation for somany great successes, such
enduring relationships and fondness, andwill continue todo so for years to come.
This pride iswhat binds us together at theAlumni Association. It is a feeling
that runs deep and is evidentwhen a groupof alumni come together to celebrate
the university. It couldbe felt at the StratfordFestival last Junewhenwe gathered
for a productionof
Carrousel
or at theToronto International FilmFestival whenour
associationhosted an event for the premiere of theDonaldSutherland andKiefer
Sutherlandfilm,
Forsaken
. ThisUWindsor pride canbe felt at theAlumni Affairs
newhome on campus, The Stephen andVicki AdamsWelcomeCentre, and in the
university’s new, downtown campus anchoredby the newSchool of SocialWork and
Centre for Executive andProfessional Educationbuilding.
The association continues to transform tomeet the needs of our alumni. This
past November, wewelcomed twonewboardmembers: AndrewWard andTrevor
Georgie. We also thanked retiringboardmembersVinceBassman, ChrisBusch and
Jennifer Rooke for their dedication as volunteers over the past six years.Wewelcomed
back SueWilliams, a former associationpresident, as the alumni representative on the
Universityof Windsor Boardof Governors. Thank you toBrianE. Brown for hismany
years of support as our FacultyAssociationRep. A special welcome to the newFaculty
Representative appointedby theDean’sCouncil, TanjaCollet-Najem.
The board also continues toprepare its new strategic plan for review and
implementation. This newplanwill be basedon feedback received from alumni across
the globe andwill shape the next five years of the association. I look forward to sharing
itwith youupon completion.
I also look forward tohearing yourUniversityof Windsor stories at our alumni
