Everyprovince inCanadaadministers itsownprovincial student aid
program that assistsstudents (CanadianCitizens/PermanentResidents/
ProtectedPersons)with financing theirpost-secondarystudies.
Government financial aidprogramsaregenerallycomprisedof grantsand
loansandsomehavea loan-forgivenessprogram that repaysaportionof
thestudent loanuponsuccessful completionof yourstudies. InOntario, it
iscalled theOntarioStudentOpportunityGrant. Thisgrant reduces your
loandebt annually if youqualify.

ScholarsProgram
What is theOutstandingScholarsProgram?
TheOutstandingScholarsProgrammatchesexcellent
studentswith top research faculty. Thisuniqueprogram
givesstudentspaidexperienceand introduces them to the
complexitiesandbenefitsof active research.
Howdoes itwork?
Each year, approximately150high-achieving, first-year
studentsareofferedstatusasanOutstandingScholar
Candidate. In first year, candidateswill receive$750per
semester inaddition to theirentranceawards.Outstanding
ScholarCandidatesmeet regularlywithprogramadvisors,
andarementored throughout first year.
Toqualify tocompete forentrance into theOutstanding
Scholarsprogram, thesecandidatesmust achievea
minimumof 80%at theendof first year. Studentswho
enter theOutstandingScholarsprogram insecond year
willworkcloselywith facultyonacademic research
projects forwhich theywill earnup to$1,500persemester.
OutstandingScholarCandidates (first-year recipients) and
all seniorOutstandingScholars (second yearandabove)
must registeras full-timestudents inanHonoursprogram
at theuniversity.
