Applicantswhohavecompleted the InternationalBaccalaureate
Diplomawithaminimumoverall scoreof 24, includingat least
threecoursesat thehigher level,will beconsidered foradmission
to theuniversity. Applicantswhoarecompletingaprovincial or
national highschool programhave theoptionof beingconsidered
foradmissionon thebasisof thehighschool program.
TransferCredit for InternationalBaccalaureate
(IB)Credentials
Applicantspresenting InternationalBaccalaureate (IB)credentials
have theoptionat thepointofadmissionof receiving transfercredit
forapprovedcourses,where theyhaveachieved IBgradesof ‘5’or
more, toamaximumof10courses (30.0credithours).Completionof
thediploma isnotaprerequisite forreceiving transfercredit.
MatureStudentPolicy
Applicantswhodonotmeet theminimumacademic requirements
foradmission to theUniversityofWindsormaybeeligible for
considerationasmaturestudents if they:
1) AreCanadiancitizensorpermanent residentsat the timeof
application; and
2) Willbeat least20yearsofageprior toproposeddateof
enrolment;and
3a) HavecompletedanOntarioSecondarySchoolDiploma (OSS
Diploma) orequivalent (applicantswhohavenot completedan
OSSDiplomaorequivalentmust submit aprofile); or
b) Havecompletedone yearof anOntarioCollegeofAppliedArts
andTechnology (CAAT) program that isacademic innature
withaminimumcumulativeaverageofB (3.0) from theCAAT
program; and
4) Havenot been in full-timeattendanceat secondaryschool
within theprevious two years.
Applicantsmustsubmitproofofageandofficial transcripts from
theirsecondaryschool(s)and fromanypost-secondary institution
which theymayhaveattended. Inaddition, theymustsubmita letter
ofapplicationoutlining theircareerambitionsandwhy theyexpect to
besuccessful inuniversitystudies, theirworkexperiences,personal
andprofessionaldevelopmentand training,andanyotherpertinent
information,alongwithsupportingdocumentation (wherepossible).
If theapplicationandsupportingdocumentationdonotappear to
suggestareasonableprobability forsuccess inuniversitystudies,
theapplicantwillbedeniedadmission.Furtherconsiderationwillbe
through theOfficeof theRegistrar inconsultationwith thedeanof the
applicant’s intended facultywhosedecisionwillbe final.
Applicantswhopreviouslyattendedauniversityand left ingood
academicstandingwillbeable toapplyunder theUniversityTransfer
Regulations.Applicantswhopreviouslyattendedauniversityand left
onacademicprobationorwererequired towithdrawmayapplyunder
theUniversityTransferRegulationsor theymayapplyunder the
MatureStudentpolicy,provided they fulfil theconditionsabove.
ApplicantswithanOSSDiplomaorequivalentwhopreviously
attendedanOntarioCollegeofAppliedArtsandTechnology (CAAT)
andcompletedaminimumofoneyearofaCAATdiplomaprogram
that isacademic innaturewithaminimumcumulativeaverageofB
(3.0)at theCAATwillbeable toapplyunder theCollegeofApplied
ArtsandTechnologyTransferRegulations.
ApplicantswithanOSSDiplomaorequivalentwhopreviously
attendedanOntarioCollegeofAppliedArtsandTechnology (CAAT) for
oneormoresemesterswithaminimumcumulativeaverageofC (2.0)
at theCAAT fromaprogram thatwasacademic innaturemayapply
under theMatureStudentpolicy,provided they fulfil theconditions
listedabove.
ApplicantswithanOSSDiplomaorequivalentwhopreviouslyattended
anOntarioCollegeofAppliedArtsandTechnology (CAAT) foroneor
moresemesterswithacumulativeaveragebelowaC (2.0)at theCAAT
fromaprogram thatwasacademic innaturemusteitherupgradeor
wait for twoyearsbeforeapplyingunder theMatureStudentpolicy.
Successfulapplicantswillbeadmittedasdegreestudents.Theyare
permitted todeclareamajor forwhich theyareeligible,and they
mustobtainacademiccounsellingbefore their initial registration.
Applicantswhodonotqualify for full-timedegreeprogramsmaybe
considered foradmissionaspart-timestudents.
Admission tomanyprograms iscompetitive,and theuniversity
reserves theright to limitadmission tosuchprograms.Directentry
isavailable tomostprogramswithin theFacultyofArts,Humanities
andSocialSciences,althoughsomerequirespecificgrade12“U”
prerequisites.Auditionsarerequired inActingandMusicprograms.
Aworkshop/interview isrequired for theDrama inEducationand
Communityprogram.Programswithin theFacultiesofScience,
Engineering,HumanKinetics,Nursingand theOdetteSchoolof
BusinessAdministrationrequireprerequisitecoursesat theGrade
12“U”and fulfilmentofminimumaveragerequirements in these
requiredprerequisitecourses.
