President Cunningham's Message

I'll remember January, 1999, as the month of digging out. First there were several days of shoveling my sidewalk and driveway. After that, and less strenuously, I've been trying to clear out piles of paper and assorted clippings from my study which had become just as cluttered as my office ever was. I like to think that I've moved ahead on clearance and clarity.

Besides getting rid of unwanted materials, we've also been building. With the help of Alan Metcalfe and Datta Pillay, I've submitted a proposal to WUFA to establish voting representation from the Retirees' Association on a number of Faculty Association committees, including the Pension and Benefits Committee, Contract Committee and the Negotiating Team.

In our negotiations with the Association, we will emphasize the point that we are interested in issues that affect retired faculty, librarians and certain others. Our goal is to have an effective voice and formative role in those provisions--primarily pension and benefits--which impinge on the welfare and fortunes of retired personnel. We will report on our progress at the March meeting.

Please make a point of marking on your calendar the next general meeting of the Windsor University Retirees' Association:
