Retirees' Concerns: In these editorial columns many matters affecting the retirees' - pension, benefits , services and facilities at the University of Windsor have been reviewed, discussed and/or criticised. We are pleased to note, that the Executive Committee of the Association, has been successful in resolving amicably two matters of concern to all of us - USER ID fees and the correction to the 13 pension payments in 1997. However, we are not in a position to report success, in dealing with the Faculty Association, who have fiduciary responsibility to represent us in all monetary aspects - pension and benefits to the University Administration.
Task Force - Joint Committee between Faculty Association and the Retirees Association
(Three members each).
This is the first good sign, that the Faculty Association has taken our representations during the past year, seriously and beginning to
recognize, that we are a force to reckon with. Hence, it has agreed to set up this joint committee, to study the various issues of
Committee Representation for the Retirees' Association and its impact on the constitution of the Faculty Association and voting
privileges. It should be pointed out here, that the Retirees' Association is only interested in providing input to various Faculty
Association committees that decide on Retiree pensions and benefits. Contrary to fears from some quarters, the Retirees' Association
has no intention to seek voting privileges to sabotage voting at the General Body or Contract Ratification meetings.
Another Call For Contributions/Articles/Travel News etc. etc.
This Newsletter is only as good as its contributing membership, to keep alive and make it interesting reading. All of you can expect to
hear from me, in an effort to persuade you, to share your news, views and any other adventures and experiences, that may be of
interest to our members.

The Retirees' Association (Faculty,Librarian, Administrator) at Windsor was formed in 1990, to give a unified voice to retirees; to provide a bridge for communication with the University; to encourage social contact among the retirees; and to open a few doors through which retirees could continue to contribute to the University of Windsor.
Thus the Association is meant to fill what could otherwise be a void in the lives of retirees - possible isolation from the University and from their former colleagues; and possible lack of understanding of vital pension and health issues that affect them directly.
There are only two meetings of the full membership per year: in the spring and the fall. An informal social committee arranges several other events per year - dinners, plays, picnics, and so on -all of which are paid for by those who take part. The Association encourages smaller special interest groups to form as occasion and their interests warrant. Because of extreme economy of operation, dues have been kept at the level of $10 per year. This includes five issues of The Retirees' Newsletter .
