Energywise – A Partnership in Research and Education is a strategic collaboration between Union Gas and the University of Windsor - Faculty of Engineering.  Operating under the larger umbrella of the Union Gas Energywise for Industry mandate, this academic collaboration thrives through the corporate generosity of Union Gas. 

We are an energy audit and analysis team comprised of UWin Engineering Faculty and Students.  We provide detailed energy saving alternatives for targeted Union Gas clients.  Under the over-arching goal of environmental stewardship, the appeal of the program is truly multifaceted; clear and quantifiable economic benefits are delivered to the client, and an unparalleled experiential learning opportunity is provided to the UWin students that comprise the EWise team.

UWin Engineering Education Enhanced Through Union Gas Energywise Research

Traditional engineering education has long required that students specialize in a particular discipline.  This remains requisite as it is vital that engineers command the necessary depth of knowledge to safely advance the application of new technology for the benefit of society.  Increasingly, today's modern engineering challenges are multi-faceted and no one discipline is equipped to handle them alone.  The Union Gas Energywise Research Partnership provides students the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team, tackling complex challenges rooted in the conservation and more efficient use of energy.  Unlike traditional textbook learning, the engineering education afforded by this program is problem-based.  Learning by doing is the essence of experiential learing -- something all Energywise team members are exposed to through participation in the program -- a true asset to modern engineering education!

Joining the Energywise Team

The success of the Union Gas - UWin Energywise Partnership in Research and Education is driven by its innovative, motivated engineering student team members.  If you are an individual that is engaged by new challenges and have an interest in multidisciplinary work; then you may be a candidate for the UWin Energywise Student Team.  The team seeks candidates in all disciplines of engineering; students that have completed at least 2 years of study are preferred.  To learn more about positions available within this exciting initiative, please contact Dr. Rupp Carriveau (rupp@uwindsor.ca).
