Carbon Nanotubes
Scientists are looking for more efficient ways to transmit very weak electrical signals. One of the
promising solutions is by use of carbon nanotubes. The major advantage is that carbon nanotubes can be
as small as 3 nanometers in diameter, which is comparable to the size of a single molecular transistor.
Another advantage of carbon nanotubes is that being extremely small, they can conduct a single electron
without losing any energy due to heat. That would mean that no matter how weak the signal is, it
will get through.
