Machievellian Research? |
|
In class I'll do a brief presentation on some
"Fringe" research. It seems to have some value, then it seems to lead to
information "out in left field," then it seems to be potentially fraudulent.
We'll discuss this research with the intention of looking to the value, or
potential value, of "fringe" research. I'll ask you to read two chapters
prior to class that report on some potentially bad research, or fringe
research, or perhaps fraudulent research. In discussion groups you'll
be expected to examine the readings with an eye to formulating "what's bad"
in the research, and "what's good" in the research. This would be followed
by an oral report and large group follow-up discussion. |
Readings: will be supplied a day or two prior to the
class. |
