A Fond Farewell from Your President
Since this is my last full week as your SLS President, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for such an amazing year. As leader of this year's Council, I can proudly say that we have worked hard individually, and more importantly, as a team, to bring positive changes to our law school. Some examples include, "The Bench", the creation of a "student zone" in the lower pit, grade average increases for Law I's, unofficial grade transcripts, outstanding social events, the new "Windsor Law" logo, a new website ... to name only a few.
As the 2002-2003 Council's term comes to an end, I want to encourage you to keep this successful momentum of positive change through hard work and persistence, going. You can do this by voting for those who are committed to this school and who are excited about the challenges that they will inevitably face.
Again I thank you, and best of luck to all of you in your future endeavors,
Karen Willans , SLS President 2002-2003.
Everything Must Go!

Community Legal Aid Year Ender Bender
Keep your calendar open, ‘cause the Community Legal Aid year end volunteer thank-you is happening on April 10th, at a place to be announced.
Consider yourselves warned!
Are you committed to social justice?
The Law Students’ Justice Coalition (LSJC) wants you…
The LSJC is extending its "Police Accountability Campaign" into the downtown Windsor area from May 5 to August 29, 2003. The goal of this campaign is to heighten police accountability in the city of Windsor. It is our position that police services should be provided in a manner sensitive to race, age, ethnicity, creed, gender and socioeconomic status.
We are currently seeking law students with a demonstrated commitment to social justice (and a bit of courage) to act as volunteers as part of this campaign.
Volunteers will work in teams. Their duties may include field research, material distribution, surveying/documenting instances of (1) police incivility, (2) abuse of authority, (3) excessive use of force, (4) discreditable conduct and (5) neglect of duty, encouraging worthy complainants to come forward and assisting them in the police complaints process.
If you’re able to commit at least 4 hours per month to this project or if information is required, contact the LSJC at lsjc_uwindsor@hotmail.com or 252-1973.
All training and materials will be provided.
The LSJC is currently working on this project in coordination with the Windsor Police Services, the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services, Community Legal Education of Ontario and concerned community organizations.
