Association NewsContract Negotiations in 1998 Between The University and the Faculty Association

Negotiations between the University of Windsor and the Faculty Association have been ongoing for the past six weeks. In talking to members of both sides, it is apparent that the negotiations are at a slow pace, which they claim is not necessarily a sign of lack of progress, but a careful and cautious approach.

UNI~COM

Uni~Com is a senior research center based on the campus of the University of Windsor.

Its major objectives are:

1. To provide an organization for retirees within a university setting.

2. To initiate or develop projects for the use of the talents and skills of retired persons.

3. To provide, as a resource, the rich and versatile talents of a group of retired professionals.

4. To expand the opportunities, within our community, for the participation and involvement of seniors, and particularly to enhance opportunities for mental stimulation.

5. To enrich the community with such projects as Elder hostel; the Center for Learning in Retirement; Project CARE, a video of community support and long term care of the elderly; the Barbara Parry Project -- audio-visual material for children with cancer. We are open to research projects and surveys as the opportunity arises.

The Newsletter

The Retirees' Newsletter is put out by the Faculty, Librarian Administrator Retirees' Association of the University of Windsor, five times per year: -- in February, April, June, October and December.

Its main purpose is to inform our retirees on matters of direct interest to them - such as their pensions, benefits, association activities, etc. and, equally, to provide a channel for retirees to keep in touch with each other and with outside groups, including the Faculty Association and the University.

The Newsletter welcomes from readers their comments, arguments, contributions and creative work.
