Human Kinetics will have two units: the department of Kinesiology, and Athletics and Recreational Services. Senate agreed to consider later whether athletics will be called a division, a department or something else.

The units in the Faculty of Science is not determined. The Faculty of Science will have departments of Biological Sciences; Economics; Mathematics and Statistics; and a School of Computer Science. However, Senate agreed to reconsider the proposal for a School of Physical Sciences with divisions in Chemistry and Biochemistry; Earth Sciences; and Physics, following objections raised by members of faculty from Physics who would like Physics to be a separate department again.

New Academic Structure will be as follows:

Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences

Faculty of Business Administration

Faculty of Education

Faculty of Engineering

Center for Flexible Learning

Faculty of Graduate Studies & Research

Faculty of Human Kinetics

New Phones on Campus

First Step Toward

Digital Phone System

Say good-bye to your old phone. Unless your office phone has been upgraded recently, it will soon be replaced!!

The university's current phone system is nearly 20 years old. It has been upgraded through the years, but has run out of capacity for further growth. The university is purchasing a telephone system and related products and services for the entire campus through TELUS.

Telecommunications plans to replace phones with as little disruption to offices as possible, during the next few months to ensure that the installation can be completed by the mid August.
