TWO SUCCESSFUL MEETINGS FOR RETIREES' ASSOCIATION

The Association for retired Faculty and Librarians, formed last year, has held two general meetings: on Nov 28 '90 and Mar 14 '91. In keeping with the purposes of the Association, the meetings were partly devoted to a social get-together and partly to a discussion of business of concern to retirees.

Highlights of the business parts of the meetings included: 1) a decision to ask the University to set up the Retired Members Pension Committee provided in Art.D.6 of the Collective Agreement; 2) the establishment of a committee to put together constitutional proposals for the Association; and 3) the appointment of a pro-tem executive pending elections. 4) Minutes of the meetings are available to members.

UNIVERSITY HAS AGREED TO ESTABLISH RETIRED MEMBERS PENSION COMMITTEE

In a meeting with representatives of the Retirees' Assn, the University has agreed to set up the Retired Members Pension Commmittee (Art.D6, Collective Agreement). Members of the new committee will be as follows: 1) Nominated by the University: Mr. T. Parkinson, Mr. J. Butler, Dr. A. McCabe and Dr. G. Wood; and 2) nominated by the Faculty Assn: Dr. N. Shklov, Dr. W. Phillips, Dr. R. Cowan, and Dr. E. Habib. The first meeting of the Committee was scheduled for May 21,'91.

NEWSLETTER MAKES ITS FIRST APPEARANCE

This is the first issue of the Newsletter. It will be put out on an occasional basis for the next few months. As the number of retirees grows, The Newsletter could become a regular publication. Every effort will be made to include items of direct interest to members. We'd be delighted to have comments and contributions from members. Send them to Bill Phillips, Editor, Ret Nltr,
