Suspension

The 2007 University of Windsor SAE Baja team is going with an independent suspension in the front and in the rear of the vehicle. This type of suspension has been successful in the past, and has the advantages most promising for an extracurricular type vehicle. The main advantages of the double A-arm type suspension are that it allows the greatest degree of kinematic latitude, and it has limited structure tolerances. The very first thing to design for the suspension is the suspension points to optimize the suspension kinematics. The suspension kinematics are optimized using MSC ADAMS-Car. We plan on performing a full vehicle analysis on the vehicle in both ADAMS-Car and CarSim. Our suspension team also consists of a prototype team who are looking into advanced modifications that may be possible to see on the vehicle in the future. Below are some pictures of our ADAMS simulation.
