The University of Windsor is in the upper left corner north east of California Ave and Wyandotte St.
The conference will take place in Room B02 in the Odette Building on the University of Windsor campus. A campus map is available at
http://web4.uwindsor.ca/campusmap
The conference hotel will be the Windsor Hilton on Riverside Drive two blocks west of Ouellette Ave. (See below for other options.) Special conference rates are $115 per night plus $11 for parking. Wireless internet and hard wired internet are included at no extra cost. Guests may book on-line by going to:
http://www.windsor.hilton.com
This reservation rate is promised up to August 1, 2009.
However, if you are planning on attending the conference, it would be helpful reserve early. One individual had trouble getting the rate above so be insistent.
Students (or others on a budget) may wish to try
Canterbury College or
University Place,
both an easy walk from the conference.
For those coming by car, there is inexpensive accomodation along Huron Church Road (which is the extension of Highway 401 into Windsor) heading toward the University. (e.g. Econolodge, Kenora, Huron, Ambassador Motels), but it could be noisy along that road.
Conference Registration fee will be $40, plus $25 for the Thursday evening supper, if desired. Registration fee will be waived for students and retirees, but the supper fee still applies.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN WINDSOR
  1. Windsor Casino. It has good eating places and concerts.
  2. Windsor Sculpture Garden. If you stay at the Hilton, you may wish to walk to the conference (a half hour), along the river and through the sculpture garden.
  3. Windsor Art Gallery. Near the Hilton.
  4. Point Pelee National Park. One hour's drive south of Windsor. The most southerly point in mainland Canada. (Pelee Island is slightly more southerly.) A bird watcher's paradise. Leamington, along the way, is the Tomato capitol of Canada. The number of greenhouses is incredible.
  5. The Windsor area is getting to be known for its great wineries. Take a wine tour of the area.
  6. Windsor Community Museum. Right behind the Hilton Hotel.
    http://www.citywindsor.ca/002821.asp
  7. Canada South Science City. Small but nice.
  8. The Canadian Transportation Museum is quite nice, just outside of Windsor.
  9. Shop at Windsor Crossing Outlet Mall or at
    Devonshire Mall.
  10. Detroit. 5 minutes away across the Ambassador bridge. Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, Detroit Institute of Art (fifth largest art museum in the USA), John King's used book store (my favorite). To cross the border (either direction), you need a passport. (Enhanced driver's licences may work.)
