A Snapshot of SSABH as Delivered Across Kenya

What it is:
  • An HIV/AIDS prevention programme for secondary schools
Primary goal:
  • To motivate students in secondary school towards positive behaviour changes that will improve the management of their sexual lives to avoid HIV risk
Implementation Area
  • Schools along the Mombasa-Busia highway in Coast, Eastern, Nairobi, Central and Rift Valley provinces

Target audience:
  • Secondary school students (official age 13 - 20 years)

  • 1 guidance and counselling teacher
  • 1 games teachers
  • 8 students (4 from form 1 and 4 from form 3)

1Head teachers received a 1 day training session to gain their support for the programme and to sensitize them to ways in which secondary schools might be facilitate or impeded youth vulnerability to HIV infection
