Schools must be functional & delivering on community expectations
Respect the rest of the school calendar, curriculum, exam schedules, etc
Trainers, teachers & schools are products of the society you are aiming to change
- Address their knowledge, beliefs, concerns during training
- They can lead others forward one step at a time, as long as they are one step ahead
Interventions produce demands
- Need to link to other services (e.g. VCT, STI treatment, condom supplies)
- Schools cannot provide follow-up, intensive one-on-one guidance & support
