Able to respond to local conditions – by including community members
Parents can provide information & work with schools
Community presence in training is important to:
- Community endorsement
- Increasing teacher confidence
- Reducing inertia by having a ‘watchdog’
- Hearing different voices
- Accurately considering the social context
- Harnessing resources external to the school
The style of training has to make space for community members as well as teachers
Sharing research findings with those who provided the data helps direct and sustain action.
