  • Statement of Teaching Philosophy

  • January-April 2000 and Sept.-Dec. 2000 Designed and taught seminar "Insurgency Online" for Department of Political Science at York University and Department of History, Philosophy and Political Science at the University of Windsor. The Internet now allows previously unknown, marginal or illegal movements in specific physical places now articulate themselves to a wider public and be actively transnational. The course looks at some of these movements from the point of view of theory and broad cross-national comparison and examines how they use the Internet to provide information in their campaigns against governments. The aim is to sharpen the focus between such organizations and those who threaten or harass authorities or others through "hacking" or electronic sabotage.
