Course Overview

This course will provide students with a high-level grounding in contemporary issues in analytic epistemology.

We will begin with discussions of foundationalism vs. coherentism, and externalism vs. internalism; the work of BonJour, Fumerton,  Plantinga, Pollack,  and others will be examined.

The preceding will lead us to an examination of virtue and social epistemology Brandom, Goldman, Greco, Kitcher, Longino, Sosa, Zagzebski, and others will be discussed under those headings.

Previous exposure to the above thinkers is not required.  The course is suitable for those doing graduate work outside of philosophy, but all students will be expected to engage the assigned texts philosophically.
