Crushed concrete has been used as aggregate for a variety of purposes.  In general, its properties are comparable, but somewhat lower than average rock aggregate, and it has been used mostly in lower end applications such as base course, base and subbase

Applications:   Dense graded base under portland cement concrete pavements
Dense graded base under asphaltic concrete pavements
Dense graded base under portland cement concrete slabs
    General fill
Surfacing for unpaved driveways, roads and parking lots

Recycling concrete from demolition project can result in considerable savings since it saves the costs of transporting concrete to the landfill (as much as $ .25 per ton/mile), and eliminates the cost of disposal (as high as $100 per ton).
