Uses of Aggregate:

ConcreteAggregate makes up to 75% of the volume of concrete.  The remainder is composed of water and cement.  Because it is the largest component, many of the concrete properties depend on the properties of the aggregate.  Aggregate particles that swell, deteriorate, or react with the cement are deleterious to the concrete.

Asphalt or Bituminous mix:  As in concrete, aggregate makes up the majority volume of an asphaltic mix.  The aggregate used for this purpose has similar properties to that used in concrete.
