“Trick or Treat for Canned Food Campaign” – Make a Difference Day 2005

GK Windsor kicked off its first Make a Difference Day with an initiative called the “Trick or Treat for Canned Foods Campaign”. It all began on Monday, October 18th when members of Golden Key distributed paper grocery bags to selected neighbourhoods in Windsor and asked people to fill the bags with as many donations as possible. On Saturday, October 23rd Golden Key members returned to these neighbourhoods and collected the bags of food. We asked people to leave the filled bags on their porches for collection and we were very excited to see that most homes had contributed and the event was a success!

Golden Key organized this event to coincide with international "Make a Difference Day" which is a community service initiative that all Golden Key chapters throughout Canada, U.S., Australia, Malaysia and South Africa are participating in. The theme of this year's Make A Difference Day was "neighbours helping neighbours."

GK Windsor decided to donate their collections to the Unemployment Help Centre, and provided them with over 1000 items. Check out the pics to see the GK Windsor members at work.

GK Windsor First Annual Member Meeting

It was fantastic to see so many members out to the general meeting, we hope you had a good time and had the opportunity to meet other GK members. The meeting covered several GK topics and we followed it up with a trip to the Thirsty Scholar were we all snacked on some greasy treats. ;)

“Sex Fashion Rock and Roll” – MS Fundraiser

GK Windsor is happy to report that with their contributions the December 2nd fundraiser “Sex Fashion Rock n Roll” raised $2000 for the MS Society of Canada. Thank-you to the GK volunteers and also to those members who came out and saw the show. It was a blast with a spectacular view; check out these pics to see what I am talking about.
