Service Events:

The Golden Key International Honour Society has a long and proud history of community service events and activities that help Golden Key members make a difference in their community. The University of Windsor Chapter plans to uphold Golden Key’s strong commitment to community service in our service events. As you may be aware, our Chapter is just starting up at the University of Windsor, but we have big plans for our service events this year. Whether you have hours or a few minutes, Golden Key U Windsor will provide a variety of exciting opportunities for you to come out and get involved!

We understand that golden key members’ have busy schedules, so we plan to provide plenty of service opportunities that require a small amount of your time, but make a big difference in our community. Be sure to check out the website often to learn about how you can join fellow GK members and get involved.

“Adopt-A-School” Program

The “Adopt-A-School” program is the Chapter’s biggest service event, and is already in the works by our Executive. Our Chapter plans to partner with a local elementary school to allow Golden Key members to share their experience in academic achievement, with children who may be considered “at risk” in their studies. We plan to organize a number of activities/events with the students of our adopted school to empower them to achieve academic success and build self-esteem. Our goal is to empower young students to believe in themselves to make their dreams a reality. We want to de-mystify the University experience for students who may not have considered post-secondary education an option. The diverse educational and personal backgrounds of our members will provide a variety of experiences to draw upon in relating to these students. Golden Key U Windsor hopes to develop a mentoring program where Golden Key members and “at risk” elementary students are paired in a one-to-one mentoring relationship. In future, we hope to expand this program to other area schools in our community.

As part of our Adopt-A-School program, we will also be holding a variety of events to support our school. Current events in the works are: a children’s book drive and a food drive for a Breakfast Program.
