THREE LANCERSNAMED TO 2015 TEAM CANADAWOMEN’SHOCKEY TEAM
ThreeWindsor Lancers representedCanadaat the
2015WinterUniversiade inGrenada, Spain, as
membersof thewomen’shockey team.
Fifth-year forwards JennyMacKnight andBreePolci
represented theBlue&Goldon the ice this past February,
whileLancer head coach JimHunterworked thebench
as anassistant coach for theCanadian squad.
The27thbiennial Games ran fromFeb. 4-14,with the
women’s hockeyfinal onFeb. 13.
MacKnight captured theOUA scoring title in2013-14
with40points (15goals, 25assists) andwas named the
Windsor Lancers femaleathleteof theyear last season.
This season, by theholidaybreak, theEnvironmental
StudiesMajor led theLancerswith13points (6goals,
7assists) in14games played.
Polci finished second in team scoring in2013-14
with21points (12 goals, 20 assists), and is alsohaving
a strong seasonon the ice for theLancers this yearwhile
completingher historydegree.
TheLancers have qualified for the playoffs for the
past four seasons underHunter’s leadership, who said
hewas very grateful for the opportunity toworkwith the
Canadian team.
“Thiswas a tremendous opportunitynot only forme
but our athletes and theUniversity aswell,” saidHunter.
“I had a great timeworkingwith the bestwomen’s hockey
players across theCIS, andhelping to get theUniversity
of Windsor name out in the hockey community across
theworld.”
