MACKNIGHT, VAN BUSKIRK WIN LANCER ATHLETES OF THE YEAR
HAVEY NAMED ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Lancer hockey standouts JennyMacKnight andParkerVanBuskirk scored
theBanner andOlympic Shields
, respectively, as theUniversityof Windsor
Athletes of theYear for 2013-14. The awardswere announced at the annual Evening
of Excellence inApril, whichhighlights Lancer accomplishments.
MacKnightwas named theOUAwomen’s hockeyplayer of the year after
capturing theOUA scoring titlewith40points in 24 games. Her 15 goals and 25
assistswere also secondbest in all of theCIS and resulted inher becoming the first
ever Lancerwomen’s hockeyplayer tobe named aCISAll-Canadian.
A stellar playerwho also came upbig in the important games,MacKnight also
finished fourth inCanada in game-winning goals. She ranked in theCIS top ten in
almost everymajor scoring statistical category, a testament toher incredible season.
VanBuskirk, aWindsor native, backstopped theLancers toboth theOUAWest
championship and theQueen’sCupOUAprovincial title. AnOUAAll-Star in the
regular season, Parker led theCIS in total saves andfinished eighth inCanada in
save percentagewith a .920mark.
In the playoffs, VanBuskirkwas nothing short of incredible. He allowed just
12 goals in seven games to lead theLancers toonly their secondQueen’sCup in
school history. His sparkling 1.72 goals-against average and .970 save percentage
led all conference net-minders by awidemargin. Hewas named theQueen’sCup
championshipMVP.

Havey, who joined theUniversity 23 years ago, said, “Tohave been selected to
leadour teamof athletes, coaches and staff in the coming years is a truly exciting
opportunity.
“There are both challenging and exciting times ahead for Athletics&
Recreational Services. Tobe the unit leader aswe attempt to action amajor
capital buildingproject is an exciting and challengingprospect and represents the
realizationof a long-helddream.”
During the 2013-14 season, Havey stewarded the department as its acting
director. Duringhis tenure, theLancers captured four championship titles and
inMarch 2013hosted the successful 2014ArcelorMittal DofascoCISWomen’s
Basketball Championships.
In2013, Havey received theUniversityof Windsor’s LeadershipAward and
representedCanada at the 2013SummerUniversiade inKazan, Russia, as part of
TeamCanada’s administration.
