Project Goals and Objectives: Reconnect Blue Heron Lagoon to the Detroit River, including habitat restoration
Project Description: One Detroit River Area of Concern Habitat Beneficial Use Impairment includes loss of fish and wildlife habitat. This project will restore fish access to 38 hectares (95 acres) of wetlands, shallow and deep water habitat, and to 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) of canals. Enhancement of Blue Heron Lagoon fish habitat in the Detroit River has been proposed by the Remedial Action Plan as one means of delisting impaired beneficial use.
