Project Goals and Objectives: Derelict marina removal and soft shoreline project

Project Description: Riverdance Park was acquired by the Town of LaSalle. The project involved the removal of derelict steel finger dock infrastructure and softening of shoreline using a diversity of substrate types and sizes, crenulation, placement of offshore rock clusters and construction of a rock sheltering island.

Cost: $650,000

Timeframe: 2010

Partners: Essex Region Conservation Authority, Town of LaSalle, and Environment Canada

Ecological Effectiveness: Pre-construction fish presence/absence monitoring was completed by Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (Lake Erie Management Unit). Post-construction biological monitoring has not been completed to date. An engineering assessment of the constructed works has been completed.
