CHOOSINGYOURMAJOR
Youracademicmajor is theprogramofstudy inwhichyouaremost interested.Each
programhasrequiredand/orrecommendedcourses foryour firstyearofstudy.Before
enrolling, consult theprogramrequirements.What if you like twomajors?Manystudents
combine twoareasofstudy inaDoubleMajor (orCombinedHonours) four-yearprogram.
In the first term, youshould take thecourses listed forBOTHof theprograms.
Inaddition,
youshoulddiscussyourchoiceswithadvisers inbothprograms, sinceyouhave tomeet
requirements inbothprograms.

Inaddition toyourmajor, youcanalsogainanadvantagebycombiningdisciplineswitha
“minor,”which isanareaofsupplementaryspecialization (generally6specificcourses ina
discipline).Tailorauniversityexperience that isunique toyou.

Yourundergraduateyearsarea timeofdiscovery—ofwhoyouare,whatyourstrengths
are,andwhatyourpassion is in life. If youareunsurewhatyouwant tomajor in, you
canregisterasan“UndeclaredMajor” inyour firstyearofstudy.Thiswillgiveyou the
opportunity to trydifferentsubjectareasanddiscoverwhereyourreal interests lie.To
