It gives us a great pleasure to announce that the International Students Society will be providing 7 bursaries to students from diverse backgrounds on-campus. Only full time international students are eligible for these bursaries.
Each bursary is valued $300. Students must submit a separate application form for each of the bursary with required supporting documents which involve academic transcripts, reference letter from faculty/staff/employer/colleague, student statement on campus involvement, certificates and any other documents you feel will help the committee make a decision.
Listed below are the bursary details- 1. Most Active 1st Year International Student of the year (1 Bursary) Candidate must have completed 1 academic year at the University of Windsor. Minimum GPA of 8.0 and must have reasonable campus/community involvement. 2. International Student of the Year (1 Bursary) Applicant must be a 3rd or 4th year student - must have minimum GPA of 8.0 and reasonable campus/community involvement. 3. International Scholar of the Year (3 Bursary) Students with minimum GPA of 10.0 and with reasonable Campus/Community Involvement. 4. Need Based Award for Graduate Students (1 Bursary) Students with minimum GPA of 10.0. Applicants must submit relevant supporting documents demonstrating financial need. 5. Most Active International Student of the Year (1 Bursaries)
Candidate must be in their 2nd to 4th year of studies at the University of Windsor. Minimum GPA of 8.0 and must have reasonable campus/community involvement. Students are required to submit their application package to Ms. Kelly Dagenais at the International Student Centre by 4:00 PM April 9, 2010. All applications will be assessed by the bursary committee and only selected candidates will be notified.
Please note that: We DO NOT need an official transcript: Any document/reference letter submitted will NOT be returned back to the student.
The application form for the Bursary can be found on the ISS website, under the documents section. Your application for the bursary would not be considered without the application form.

Details:International Students Society will be taking Students for a trip to Montréal and Ottawa. The trip is during the family day long weekend ( weekend before reading week) Montreal is the cultural capital of Quebec and the main entry point to the province. The second largest city in Canada, it is a city rich in culture and history. It is one of the most beautiful and serene places in Canada. Montreal is home to the second-largest population of native French speakers in the world, only behind Paris.
Ottawa is the capital of Canada and the country's fourth largest municipality. Ottawa is located in the Ottawa Valley in the eastern portion of the province of Ontario. I.S.S. plans a trip for the International Students every semester and this is our way of making you more familiar with Canadian Culture. In the past we have taken students to Montreal, Ottawa, Muskoka, Niagara Falls and Blue Mountains. Please check the ISS website for some pictures from the trip. We would be taking 55 students on this trip. The cost of the trip is a nominal fee of $170. NOTE: The cost only includes bus travel to Montreal and Ottawa and stay in Montreal (2 nights and 3 days). All other expenses must be paid for by the student. We would be leaving for Montreal at 11 PM on Friday 12th Feb. and will reach Montreal on Saturday morning. You all are free to explore places in Montreal all day Saturday. We would leave for Ottawa on Sunday, 14th Feb. in the morning and spend the whole day in Ottawa and then come back to Montreal by night. We would have all day Monday to explore the beauties of Montreal, and leave for Windsor at 6 PM on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010. Once all the seats have been filled up a more detailed itinerary would be given.Reservation of seats starts Monday January 18, 2010
To reserve a seat on the trip you please deposit $170 with Kelly Dagemais at the International Student Center, Cody Hall and also fill a trip Wavier form.The last date for Reservation/ Cancellations is Jan 30, 2010.

The International Student Society is primarily oriented in promoting diversity and support people from different cultures, backgrounds, ethnicity at the University of Windsor. As a result we take a step forward in announcing our annual 'Festival of Lights' event this Fall. The overwhelming support from all students on campus has helped to inspire and motivate to organize this event again.
This year the Festival of Lights is on Friday Nov 20, 2009. This event is a multicultural extravaganza which celebrates the diverse cultures represented on our campus, the City of Windsor and Canada and involves highly skilled students from different ethnic cultures display their talents in the midst of people from different culture. Let us take advantage of this event in celebrating happiness, renewing friendship and work towards collective unity. In order to make this event successful (bigger and better than previous years), we need your contribution and participation. If you would be interested in performing or displaying any skills (Singing, Dancing, Group Performance, musical instruments, Stand up Comedy etc) you are good with - you can contact us at iss@uwindsor.ca with the details. All participants will be given a certificate and the best performance wins a hard-disk as a token of appreciation. Festival of lights is the celebration of diversity. We are looking at having atleast one performance from each country. Come forward and represent your Country in front of everyone . Details: The cost of the Trip is $55 which includes Transportation to and from Niagara Falls and one night stay at Comfort Inn, Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls which is ranked amongst the best hotels in Niagara Falls.
We will be leaving Windsor by Bus on Saturday, October 10, 2009 early in the morning for Niagara Falls and spending two days and one night in Niagara Falls. We would leave Niagara Falls late in the evening on Sunday, October 11, 2009. This would give all of us enough time to visit the various tourist attractions in Niagara, including the Maid of Mist, Journey behind the falls, and MarineLand etc. More details about the trip would be send out as we get closer to the trip.

After the huge success of last years Festival of Lights, we are here again to continue with our celebration of diversity.
Date : Monday, November 12 Time : 7 PM Location: CAW Commons Area We are having multicultural performances on the evening, followed by Dandia Session ( Indian traditional group dance) and a jam session. Those of you who were here during last years event , must remember the kind of blast we had! And yes we are back this year with even more! This year's performances include: Latin Dance, singing performances, magic show, group dances, henna decoration and more! Be there with us and have a very enjoyable evening. Remember everyone is invited and it's free of cost, so don't forget to bring your friends along.
