STAR is celebrating the launch of 5 information brochures for sex workers and 2 research reports. One report is a policy report on exotic dancing and the other a discussion paper on law and security issues.

Jacqueline Lewis, University of Windsor, Windsor Ontario
Dr. Lewis has been involved in sex work research since 1994. In addition to her work with STAR, she has been the lead of 2 other research projects, one that looked at health issues of exotic dancers in southern Ontario and the other the licensing of escorts in Windsor, Ontario.

Eleanor Maticka-Tyndale, University of Windsor, Windsor Ontario
Dr. Maticka-Tyndale’s research focuses on community understandings and influences on sexual health. This is the third research project she has worked on in the area of sex work. She has partnered with communities in the development of sexual health programmes in Thailand, Kenya and Canada, has been a member of national and international expert working groups.

Kim Martyn
Ms. Martyn works for Toronto Public Health and was a member of the Exotic Dancers Health and Safety Work Group. She is the author of All The Way, a book for teens and parents on sex.

Mary Taylor
Ms. Taylor was an exotic dancer for 20 years. She is the founder of the Exotic Dancers Association of Canada. She is also the author of Bedroom Games, a book that teaches women the art of striptease.

Kara Gillies
Ms. Gillies is a sex worker rights advocate working in the area of law reform and health promotion. She is the Ontario Coordinator of the Canadian Guild for Erotic Labour.

Robert Johnson
Mr. Johnson worked in the sex trade for 18 years. He has been involved with Maggie's and sex worker politics since 1984.

The MC for the event will be Heather Schramm. Ms. Schramm was the STAR Toronto Research Site Coordinator. She holds a Master in Criminology from the University of Cambridge.
