Construct Validity

• Disagree have higher scale scores than agree:

  • I can say ‘no’ to sex
  • When a girl says ‘no’ it means ‘no’
  • A girl can refuse sex with an older man
  • A girl can refuse sex even with her boyfriend

• Agree have higher scale scores than disagree:

  • If a girl is given a gift she must play sex

• ‘Yes’ have higher scale scores than ‘no’:

  • Ever ‘played sex’
  • Played sex in the past 3 months

• No differences in scale scores based on:

  • age
  • School grade
  • whether first or most recent partner is in primary, secondary or not in school.
