| In late 2003, Drs Nick Seccombe and Tim Reddish visited the Daresbury Synchrotron Source (UK) to work with Drs Michele Siggel King and Robert Linsey on their newly developed TEARES. The Toroidal Energy- and Angle-Resolving Electron Spectrometer (TEARES) enables both the energy and angle of ejection of an electron to be measured simultaneously, in a similar way to the toroidal analyser developed by Reddish el al [Rev Sci Intrum (1977) 68 2685-92 (PDF)]. These first experiments were to test the system's performance. The system is ultimately designed for photoionsation non-dipole studies in atoms and molecules and for surface photoelectron diffraction measurements using linearly polarised light from undulator radiation at DIAMOND. |
