Discuss Brainstorm

      Different senses of “metaphysics”

      Broad use: same as ontology, what exists?, eg, God, soul, freedom, morality, mathematical objects, tables, chairs, atoms, dreams, …

      A narrow use: that which is beyond the physical, eg,God, soul, spirits, ghosts, the supernatural…

      Kant’s use of “metaphysics” early in the CPR: God, soul, freedom and morality

 

Reading Assignment

      “Pr”  refers to the Prolegomena….

      “CPR”  refers to the Critique of Pure Reason

      Pr 3-12, skip section 3: introduction and preamble to the Prolegomena.

      CPR 7-37: prefaces to the first and second editions of the CPR
